  Recently moved to Seneca from the Charleston area and needed to transfer my care to a local pain management practice. I waited almost a month for an appointment -the office staff was friendly but I waited over 2 hours to be called back to the exam room. Once called back the nurse asked me about 10 questions that I had already answered in the extensive paperwork I filled out. After another several minutes, the nurse came back and said the doctor would not prescribe the meds I was on from my other doctor. I said that's fine I am open to changing if the doc thinks that is best. She left again and told me that the doc would not take on my care because my level of pain meds was too high. After 2 plus hours , a urine test, extensive paperwork and a month's wait for an appointment Dr. Patel did not even have the courtesy or the professionalism to even meet me and explain to me why he didn't feel comfortable treating me. If a pain management facility won't take on a pain management patient from another area ( I sent all my records) what am I supposed to do? I would not recommend this doctor to anyone based on this experience. Sad because his staff was very nice and I felt bad that he made his nurse do the "dirty work" instead of talking to me and my husband directly.
